OXFORD, Miss. -
Oxford in the Civil War, Stephen Enzweiler's recently published book that recounts the lives and turbulent history of Oxford, Mississippi during the Civil War, has been named by Square Books among their top 100 bestselling titles for 2010.

According to the bookstore's December 29th news blog, Oxford in the Civil War placed #23 among the top 100 selling titles for the year that included genres ranging from cookbooks to literature to historical non-fiction.

Historical works about Oxford to make the list included Gerald Walton's History of Ole Miss(99), Jack Mayfield's Pictorial History of Oxford and Ole Miss (15), and Anne Percy's Early History of Oxford (94).

Oxford in the Civil War sold more copies than John Grisham's latest work, Ford County (33), a reprint of William Faulkner's New Orleans Sketches (75) and a book with captions from Faulkner's works with photographs, Yoknapatawpha Images (77).

Topping the Square Books 2010 Bestseller List is Curtis Wilkie's The Fall of the House of Zeus (1), with Oxonian Sam Haskell and Promises I Made My Mother (4) closely following John Grisham's The Confession (2) and his first children's book, Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer (3).

"We thank them all – the writers of these books, their publishers, and those of you who read them, or bought them for gifts this season," wrote Square Books owner Richard Howorth in the bookstore's blog.
